About

Thanks for stopping by. Here's a bit about me.

Hello šŸ‘‹, I'm Ashton Suire, an engineer with over a decade of experience building systems, particularly within the cannabis industry. I'm passionate about Linux, open-source software, making technology simple and usable, documenting processes for others to build on, and helping teams move and use data in meaningful ways. When not working on tech, I usually pick tunes, ski, hike, or go camping in Colorado.

My path into technology started in 2012 in small-town Louisiana, where I became curious about how technology could help industries move forward. In 2016, I moved to Colorado and began contributing to the early recreational cannabis industry, supporting retail, manufacturing, and compliance technology systems.

That work eventually led me to roles at companies like Rule4, where I gained experience in compliance and cybersecurity, deepening my skills in secure software development and infrastructure. I later returned to cannabis with The Cannabist Company, where I'm focused on helping operations move and use their data in simpler, more meaningful ways.

Outside of work, I usually ski, hike, or explore the Colorado mountains. Being outdoors gives me the space to reset and step away from screens for a while.

Music is another way I unwind. I like picking guitar or banjo at bluegrass jams and making tunes that feel like they belong in an old kitchen somewhere.

Time outside and time with music keep me grounded and ready for whatever's next.

Work

I build practical systems that connect infrastructure, move data, and stay simple enough for teams to actually use. Whether it's integrating APIs, setting up networks, or ensuring systems are documented and durable, my focus is always on keeping technology useful, understandable, and built to last.
